ST. Cloud (Wijon News) – St. Cloud City Hall was packed Tuesday for a special joint meeting. St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce And that st cloud rotary.
matt varilekthe current Secretary of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Developmentattended the meeting with a presentation entitled “In Service to Minnesota – With the Help of Rotary.” His talk focused on the stresses and strengths of Minnesota’s business environment.
We are pleased with our many economic strengths at the moment. We talk about some economic data that we’ve seen that shows continued strong growth in employment (and) continued strong growth in overall economic output. We have a strong, structurally diverse economy, we are innovative in a variety of sectors, and we have demonstrated a lot of leadership.
However, Varilek was quick to note that companies are struggling to meet demand for their products.
(We want to) address several challenges, including the fact that the unemployment rate is lower than the national average, at 3.1% versus 3.7%, which reflects strength. But it’s also difficult when employers have more demand for goods, services, and talent than they can keep up with.
For Barilek, it was a kind of homecoming. He currently resides in Benton County and is a longtime member of St. Cloud Rotary.
