Travelers are usually forced to visit California because cities like Los Angeles, Hollywood, and Santa Monica are filled with tourist attractions and landmarks that are only seen in movies.
But according to the New York Times, tourists should come to the state to visit Pasadena.
The city was the only California city named in the magazine’s list of 52 Places to Visit in 2024, coming in at number 40.th It was followed by Hurghada, Egypt, and Boundary Waters, Minnesota.
The City of Roses, widely known for its annual Rose Parade, made the list primarily because of its natural beauty, according to the Times.
“Pasadena’s natural beauty is evident as soon as you enter the city,” the report states.
“The San Gabriel Mountains surround Pasadena like a crown of forests, and places like the Angeles National Forest are filled with hiking and biking trails surrounded by forested valleys and cascading waterfalls.”
Guests visiting the city can also catch a show at the Pasadena Playhouse, stop by the Norton Simon Museum, shop at the Pasadena Antique Mall, or dine at Bar Cherow.
Pasadena is approximately 10 miles from Los Angeles, so visitors don’t have to travel far to visit the City of Angels.
