Macomb County, Michigan (CBS Detroit) – The Department of the Air Force announced Thursday that it has selected Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Macomb County to deploy the next KC-46A Pegasus, pending the results of an environmental impact analysis expected in 2026.
Twelve KC-46As are expected to replace Selfridge ANGB’s A-10C Thunderbolt II and KC-135 Stratotankers, according to a press release.
“This decision is very good news for Selfridge Air National Guard Base now and for the future,” said Macomb County Public Works Commissioner and former Congresswoman Candice S. Miller. “Selfridge is perfectly positioned to carry out critical missions of critical importance to the Air National Guard. This is very important because it is essential to keep flying.”
Selfridge ANGB’s A-10s are expected to begin sales in 2026 and KC-135s in 2028.
Selfridge ANGB is scheduled to receive 12 new KC-46s, with arrivals expected to begin in 2029.
