January 11 (UPI) — Exhibitors at the 2024 CES showed off technology that helps simplify complex tasks in the kitchen. Some of these new inventions could change the way people grow and prepare foods like ice cream, coffee, and cocktails at home.
Seattle’s Artly Coffee unveiled its coffee robot to curious buyers Wednesday. Meng Wang, co-founder of Artly at Amazon, works in AI and robotics and has developed this idea over the last few years.

Barista robots can communicate through microphones and AI learning to take drink orders and even recommend specific drinks.
Rise Gardens showcased several smart gardens, including the new Roma, an indoor hydroponic garden aimed at growing fruit-bearing plants such as Roma tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, and even dwarf trees.
The software uses AI, environmental data, and growth data to manage things like light exposure and water usage.
As the non-alcoholic beverage market grows, Japanese company sPods Inc. hopes its latest creation, Coldraw, will expand the possibilities for quality craft non-alcoholic beverages at home.

ColdSnap first debuted at CES 2021, but the company only started rolling out the product to restaurants this year. A consumer version of this ice cream machine is expected to arrive in 2025.
The device can make ice cream, smoothies, and coffee drinks using “pods” that are about the size of an energy drink can. ColdSnap allows him to mass produce frozen treats within 2 minutes.
Doosan Robots has been developing AI-enabled robots for several years and showed off its latest versions, including the E-Series robot, which can serve cocktails and cook grills.
On Wednesday, Doosan Robotics spokesperson Stephanie Callaway spoke to the Food Research Institute and showed off a cocktail robot made possible by ChatGPT. The company introduced Robot Barista Café last year and produces dozens of different robot arms for industries such as automotive and industrial manufacturing.
The company’s line of collaborative robots, created specifically for the food and beverage industry, was launched in May. Carraway said the robotic cocktail bartender, dubbed Mixmaster Moody, is powered by Microsoft ChatGPT and is programmed to read people’s moods based on their facial expressions.
The user selects a mood and then selects a drink. After a few seconds, the robot bartenders, two separate robots, begin preparing the drinks.
Caraway told the Food Institute that it could help restaurants cut costs, solve labor shortages and other staffing problems.
Robot bartenders like Makr Shakr and Cecelia are starting to pop up in places like Las Vegas and on cruise lines, but they can cost upwards of $110,000.
