Even Robert Downey Jr., who has achieved worldwide fame, can have his fanboy moments – and says he did just that with Beatles legend Paul McCartney.
When I appeared on “jimmy kimmel On “Live”, the actor talked about how he invited people to a screening of “Oppenheimer” in New York’s Hamptons, where he lives.
He said he was unable to attend or promote the film’s premiere because of the actors’ strike that began ahead of the blockbuster film’s July release.
“I invited everyone in the Hamptons, and strangely enough, for the first time in my career, everyone responded,” he told Jimmy Kimmel.
Guests included iconic actor Michael J. Fox and director Steven Spielberg.
“And then I sat down and the movie started and I realized I was sitting next to Paul McCartney. So Paul McCartney responded and I felt like he was sitting next to me.” he said.
“And I started smelling his cologne and breathing in the same rhythm as him,” he added. “I didn’t even see the movie.”
He went on to say, “I still find myself admiring the stars and being a fanboy all the time.”
Downey Jr. won a Golden Globe on Sunday for his performance in “Oppenheimer,” the epic thriller about the eponymous physicist known as the “father of the atomic bomb.”
