MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WKOW) — In less than two weeks, tens of thousands of people will descend on Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention.
Hotels are expected to be packed for the event, which is set to be one of the biggest in the city’s history.
The general manager of St. Kate Hotel says they’ve been preparing for more than a year.
St. Kate’s is one of three Marcus hotels in downtown Milwaukee.
The Milwaukee affiliate said all rooms at The Pfister and Hilton Milwaukee City Center are booked.
“We knew hosting this tournament was the right choice because of the ripple effect,” said Dana Johnson, general manager of St. Kate’s Hotel. “It’s an opportunity to put Milwaukee on the map as a name that maybe isn’t known in other parts of the country or other parts of the U.S.”
More than 50,000 people are expected to attend the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, and some say the convention will put the city on the map around the world.
