Potholes are generally a nuisance and cause damage to vehicles on the road. Residents are not immune to this occurrence, as Michigan is home to some iconic and terrifying potholes. But this pothole in Grand Haven is so big that neighbors are making a meme out of it.
One day, a resident realized that the entire recliner could fit into the pothole. They literally realized that fact by putting a recliner in it. From there, a funny joke was born.
Residents of Michigan began bringing things into the pothole to make the place more welcoming. They brought in a stereo, chairs, a Christmas tree, and of course some traffic cones to draw attention to a random living room in the middle of the road.
Cory Denny posted the joke on Facebook, and people started coming to Pothole for more jokes. Some brought Barbie dolls, others ducks. Confusion ensued.
Grand Haven Public Works responded, pointing out that the road is privately owned. However, if permission is granted, we will contact the owners and improve the condition of the road. These hilarious pothole memes had a purpose.
