Jim Harbaugh lifted his alma mater to the top of the college football mountain. Will he try again, this time on a bigger climb?
With the University of Michigan winning a national championship in his ninth year as head coach, Harbaugh is sure to be interested in returning to the NFL. He noted that he has “unfinished business” in the professional game. He thinks winning the Super Bowl is bigger than winning tonight.
He will likely be one of the top NFL candidates. He was hotter than 2022, when he believed he would be hired by the Vikings, and 2023, when he interviewed with the Broncos.
Last year, he wanted the Chargers job. But the Chargers didn’t change anything. We are currently recruiting for jobs.
The Raiders are also looking for a coach. There, Harbaugh began his coaching career as an assistant more than 20 years ago. He is also being explored by other teams, including the Commanders, Falcons and Panthers. The University of Michigan would also be interested in keeping him. He will have more options than ever before.
There’s a good reason for that. He can coach. He instantly turned around his 49ers in his 2011. And he’s thrived in his NIL era, when it’s become harder for players to put “me” aside and focus on “the team.”
Is he difficult to get along with? yes. There are many great coaches. They are very demanding. They’re impatient. they want to win. They want to be surrounded by people who want to win as much as they do and who will put in as much effort as they do.
Smart teams keep coaches like that by their side even when there are arguments, arguments, and tense moments. And Michigan State kept him around for nine years, even though it wasn’t always easy, fun and light with all its eccentricities, quirks and weirdness.
Someone is going to want to put him in the NFL. And if history is true, he’ll do just fine. Also.
