The 2024 Hungarian Türkiye Year of Culture will open with a concert by the Panon Philharmonic Orchestra on January 21 at the Ataturk Cultural Center (AKM) in Istanbul. On the same day as the concert, the AKM will also host an exhibition depicting the important contribution of Hungarians in the establishment of Turkiye.
The first event of the 2024 Hungarian-Türkiye Cultural Year will be held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship signed between Hungary and Türkiye in 1923, and will be held under the theme “100 years of friendship and cooperation”. , the Hungarian Türkiye Year of Culture concert will be held. The concert will be opened by Péter Hopár, Undersecretary of the Hungarian Ministry of Culture and Innovation, who is responsible for the Year of Culture.
Founded in 1811, the Panon Philharmonic was founded in the southern Hungarian city of Pécs by the Viennese conductor Johann Georg Rickl. This ensemble is the permanent orchestra of the Kodály Center Concert Hall, built in 2010. The orchestra has hosted many international soloists under the direction of conductor Tibor Bogani.
At the concert on January 21, the orchestra will perform famous works by world-famous Hungarian composers Zoltán Kodály and Béla Bartók, as well as Bartók’s friend Ahmet Adnan Saygun’s Symphony No. is scheduled to be played. Not only in Turkiye, but also his companion on the trip.
