Hoda Kotb’s chance meeting with Tom Cruise at the Paris Olympics was actually a dream come true for her.
While attending the 2024 Opening Ceremony on Friday, July 26, Kotb said he was particularly struck by an unexpected encounter with Cruise on a bridge over the Seine. E.T.Kotb, 59, shared her excitement on Instagram, posting a selfie with the actor soaked in the pouring Paris rain.
“You’ve probably dreamed of meeting Tom Cruise… and now it’s finally happened,” the TV host captioned the photo, capturing the surreal moment of their meeting, with Kotb bundled up in a poncho and beaming with joy as Cruise stands beside her, his hair soaked and dressed in all black.

The hilarious moment prompted co-star Jenna Bush Hager to comment, “Was you wearing a poncho in your dream?”, while TV personality Carson Daly added, “OK, you win.” today Host Savannah Guthrie also commented, “Icons only 👏.”
Fans of the morning show host also chimed in, leaving mixed reviews for Cruise, 62. “I had to take a double take. Am I really looking at who I’m looking at?!” one user wrote, while another added, “I’m never excited to see him.” A third fan commented on Kotb’s rainy day outfit, writing, “Hoda you’re the only one who could look this happy and beautiful seeing Tom Cruise in a rain poncho!”
