The 81st Golden Globe Awards will be held tonight at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles and will be hosted by comedian Jo Koy. The night, which celebrates achievements in both film and television, kicks off the much-anticipated awards season and the fashion extravaganza that comes with it.

This is the first ceremony since the Hollywood Foreign Press Association disbanded last year. It will now be presented by the Golden Globe Foundation, which is comprised of Elridge Industries and Dick Clark Productions.
The Globes also make history tonight with the addition of an all-new category: Movie and Box Office. As the name suggests, this new award recognizes the highest grossing films, including those that would not otherwise have received such a prestigious award. Babenheimer apparently continued to operate the movie theater through the summer; Taylor Swift: The Elus Tour, John Wick: Chapter 4, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and super mario bros movie Make up the first candidate class.
The Golden Globes red carpet ranged from Julia Roberts’ pinstripe skirt suit in 1991 to Nicole Kidman’s peacock-feathered Gucci dress in 2005 to Natalie Portman’s roses in 2011. It has also been the setting for many fashion moments over the years, from Victor & Rolf’s fashion show. This year’s highlights include Jessica Chastain’s Crystal Spider Web dress in Oscar de la Renta, Rihanna in voluminous Schiaparelli, Hilary Swank’s Prada maternity look, and Emma in Acne Studios included Darcy’s suit.
