The Fairport Harbor Arts and Cultural Alliance has announced that the second event in its fourth annual Live @ The Lighthouse concert series will take place on July 13 with Reggae in the Harbor at the Lighthouse Amphitheater.
“Reggae in the Harbor continues to get bigger and bigger every year,” Live at the Lighthouse co-chairman Michael Schaffert said in a news release. “Located right next to the beach and temporary mooring marina, the show blends perfectly with the setting surrounding the stage and continues to generate excitement.”
“With the lighthouse in the foreground and background, Lake Erie’s finest beaches to the east, and unparalleled sunsets.
I couldn’t ask for a better venue.”
Music for Reggae in the Harbor will include 12 O’Clock Tribe performing from 1-2pm, followed by Lake Irie from 2:30-3:30pm, Rockstead from 4-5pm, Carlos Jones and the PLUS Band from 5:30-7:30pm and finally Mighty Mystic performing from 8-10pm.
Land of Panda, a psych-funk and reggae band from Akron, will perform before and after Carlos Jones as the “house band,” according to the release.
Similar to Land of Panda, 12 O’Clock Tribe hails from Akron and will play reggae, fusion and rock, while Lake Irie hails from Cleveland and will play original reggae music and fresh new songs.
Rockstead will be heading out from their home in Cincinnati to perform their new rock and reggae sound.
“Organizers are honored to welcome Carlos Jones and the PLUS Band back to The Port and to welcome a king of reggae to the venue,” the release stated. “With his focus on spreading positive messages through reggae music, Carlos continues to gain a diverse group of new fans and loyal supporters.”
Making their debut on the Beachfront Stage, Mighty Mystic hails from Boston and will bring their high energy, message-driven reggae “hard roots” sound to the stage, fusing hip hop and rock.
According to the release, food trucks on the day will include Rabbit Food, Smooth Riders, Cheesy Dave’s, Off the Griddle, CLE Chicken, Pastativo and You Enjoy My Donuts.
The third concert event will be “Jam by the Sand” on August 3rd, and the concert season will conclude on September 1st at “Harboritaville” in Fairport Harbor, paying tribute to legendary musician Jimmy Buffett.
Prior to the concert, attendees can visit local shops, eateries and Lake Metroparks Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park. All events and venues are within walking distance of the amphitheater and park. The Fairport Harbor Visitor Map is available at fhaca.org or can be picked up at local Fairport businesses.
The concert will go on rain or shine, the release states. Bands and times are subject to change, so check the Live @ The Lighthouse Facebook page or fhaca.org for up-to-date event information, along with other announcements, including the addition of a small, intimate, one-band concert in the village.
