LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) – A former Louisville restaurant owner and current Food Network celebrity chef was arrested this week on suspicion of strangling a woman.
Darnell “SuperChef” Ferguson was arrested Tuesday in Louisville, Kentucky, according to court documents. The woman told police that Ferguson allegedly strangled her and told her he was going to kill her. According to her arrest records, she lost consciousness.
According to court documents, Ferguson is also accused of stealing the victims’ identification cards, as well as their credit and debit cards.
Court records show that an emergency protection order had previously been issued against Ferguson. Granted on January 2nd.
Mr. Ferguson, a chef and restaurateur, is also known for his work on various television shows, including hosting the Food Network’s “SuperChef Grudge Match.” In this show, chefs from all over the country go head-to-head to settle grudges and win cash prizes.
He also appeared on Food Network’s “Tournament of Champions,” “America’s Worst Cooks” and “Chopped.” Nexstar owns 31.3% of TV Food Network.
In addition to his work on the Food Network, Ferguson also owned several restaurants operating under the name SuperChef. One Super Chefs location in Louisville will close in the summer of 2022. Columbus Monthly reported in 2020 that there was a Super Chefs location in Ohio, but Ferguson cut ties with it.
He was booked into the Louisville Department of Corrections and charged with seven crimes related to robbery, domestic violence and strangulation, among other things.
