“And this year, the Cheerleaders will be joined by one of their biggest fans, Celebrity Grand Marshal Emmitt Smith, who once again became a media staple, appearing in the ring for Cowboys legend coach Jimmie Johnson. and has appeared in a series of hilarious television commercials. ”
Alison added: “Emmit recently said, “I’m looking forward to participating in the great tradition of the world’s shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade, now in its 21st year.” The Cowboys Cheerleaders have been a big part of this celebration for years, and we can’t wait to join in the fun and discover what Hot Springs has to offer in this big little parade. ”
In addition to Smith and the cheerleaders, the 2024 parade will feature Foley J. Smith, who played beloved rancher Lloyd Pierce on the television series “Yellowstone,” as the official parade starter.
The official parade celebration begins Saturday night, March 16, with a free public concert on Bridge Street by country music star Pat Green. Another free concert featuring tribute band Molly Ringwald will begin immediately after the parade on Sunday, March 17th.
The world’s shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade® brought global attention to Hot Springs and helped cement its reputation as a city that knows how to have fun.
It all began in 2003, when friends over adult beverages came up with the idea to use the nearby 98-foot-long Bridge Street as a fun venue. Bridge Street was named by Ripley’s Believe It or Not as the shortest regularly used street in the world. The parade quickly gained attention around the world for its cheerful content, which created an annual spectacular aura of jollity, and 30,015 people are currently expected to gather in downtown Hot Springs for this year’s parade. said Allison.
Each year, the show features an outrageously bizarre lineup, including a troupe of marching Irish Elvis impersonators, green Irish wolfhounds, zany floats and marching units, and a surprise or two.
